I used to blog. It was a great way to let my brain vomit. Also, I met a lot of great people that way, many of whom are still my good friends.
Twitter sort of ruined blogging for me, because the character limit required me to be brief. And then it was just way easier to tweet than to open up the website to blog. (Things have changed! I’ve done most of this blogging from my wishdotcom pool!)
But also, putting yourself out there on social media is a double-edged sword. People can be so wonderful and kind and people can also try to hurt and humiliate you. It’s a great way to find out who your real friends are, and like an elephant, I will never forget who those friends are.
So I quit Twitter. I’d been wanting to for several months, but couldn’t do it. But Melon Tusk forces us to live by his whims and I don’t need any more cis white guy nonsense in my life.
And then I quit Facebook. I will have to go back to Facebook, because too much of my organizing goes on there, but I’m not going back until I have to.
There is a lot more going on in my life right now that I’m not going to post about here. Some deep trauma, some fun stuff, some hilarious stuff. Maybe another day. Maybe not.
